Introducing AGS Export: A New Feature in GeoDin
At GeoDin, we are constantly striving to enhance our software to meet the evolving needs of our users. Today, we are excited to introduce a new feature that many of you have been eagerly awaiting: the ability to export data from the G1 object type to AGS format. This feature is designed to streamline your and your team's workflow and improve data interoperability, making it easier than ever to share geotechnical data.
What is the GeoDin AGS Export feature?
The AGS (Association of Geotechnical and Environmental Specialists) format is a widely recognized standard for the exchange of geotechnical data. With our new AGS Export feature, users can now export data from the G1 object type directly into AGS format. This capability is particularly useful for those who need to pass AGS format files downstream from GeoDin to other platforms such as OpenGround or stakeholders.
Key benefits of the AGS Export feature
-
Enhanced data interoperability
The AGS export feature allows for seamless data exchange between different systems, ensuring that your geotechnical data can be easily shared and utilized across various platforms.
-
Streamlined workflow
By enabling direct export to AGS format, we eliminate the need for manual data conversion, saving you time and reducing the risk of errors.
-
Compliance with industry standards
The AGS format is a standard in the geotechnical industry, and our new export feature ensures that your data meets these standards, facilitating smoother collaboration with partners and clients.
Object types supported in GeoDin
Currently, GeoDin supports multiple object types, each adhering to different standards. The G1 object type is a versatile geotechnical object type that can contain data from various standards, such as the American ASTM standard. In addition to G1, we also support other object types like the ENISO object type, which is consistent with the ENISO data standard.
How AGS Export works in GeoDin: A 3-step guide
-
1. Data Preparation
Ensure your borehole data is captured using the G1 object type in GeoDin. Verify that the necessary data fields (depth, soil description, lab test results, etc.) are accurately populated.
-
2. Initiate Export
Navigate to the desired borehole in GeoDin. Access the export function. Select the AGS format as the export type.
-
3. Export and Transfer
GeoDin will process the data and generate an AGS file. Save the exported AGS file to your desired location. Transfer the AGS file to the recipient software or organization for further analysis or use.
Future implementations in GeoDin
GeoDin is committed to driving interoperability with many software tools and formats. Another step in the interoperability field is our gINT Converter, and the GeoDin Ground plugin for Civil3D. We're actively working to expand this capability, ensuring a comprehensive solution for all your geotechnical data needs. Our solutions align with industry standards, providing reliable and accurate geotechnical data management.
