Event overview

GeoVirginia is the premier regional conference for geospatial professionals, bringing together experts from government agencies, private industry, academia, and non-profit organizations across Virginia and the Mid-Atlantic region. The event took place in Smithfield, VA (U.S.) between the 16th and 19th of March. This gathering serves as a vital platform for showcasing the latest innovations in geographic information systems (GIS), remote sensing, and geospatial analytics.

Event highlight: presentation on earthquakes

One of the highlights this year was a fascinating keynote presentation on earthquakes. The two-hour session captivated the audience as the speaker shared insights from their career "chasing earthquakes" across the United States. The presentation demonstrated the critical role of geospatial technologies in earthquake monitoring, prediction, and response. It also highlights the importance of our work: enabling building on solid ground by having a clear picture of the ground's conditions.

Why GeoDin was present

Our participation at GeoVirginia provided an invaluable opportunity to connect with potential clients and industry peers in a focused environment. The regional nature of the conference meant that many attendees were already familiar with each other and our solutions, creating a foundation for more meaningful conversations.

The intimate setting fostered genuine interactions rather than the overwhelming experience often found at larger industry events. This environment was particularly conducive to in-depth discussions about GeoDin's capabilities and potential applications, allowing us to showcase our solutions in a context directly relevant to attendees' needs, and capturing feedback that allows us to improve GeoDin even further.

Met familiar faces

The conference provided an excellent opportunity to reconnect with professionals we had previously engaged with. Several visitors to our booth were people we had demonstrated GeoDin to in the past, allowing us to provide updates on our newest developments: GeoDin Onsite (still in closed beta) and GeoDin Ground.

Looking Ahead

Our participation in GeoVirginia 2025 reinforced the value of regional industry events for building meaningful connections and gathering direct feedback. We look forward to maintaining the connections made at GeoVirginia and transforming these initial conversations into productive partnerships that demonstrate the full value of GeoDin's geotechnical data management solutions.
